What the Theme Stands For
Historical Bonds
Australia was the first nation to hoist India's flag of independence on August 15, 1947 — just seven hours after the declaration — cementing a friendship that transcends politics and economics. This defining gesture of solidarity anchors the spirit of every AUSMUN conference.
Strategic Alliance
As key QUAD members, India and Australia collaborate on maritime security, cybersecurity, climate change, and ensuring stability in the Indo-Pacific region. AUSMUN challenges young delegates to explore how these strategic synergies can be harnessed for collective global progress.
Cultural Exchange
Diwali and Holi resonate in Australia, while cricket bridges a billion hearts. Shared values of pluralistic democracy and multicultural respect anchor this enduring friendship. Beyond high-level diplomacy, the relationship flourishes through rich cultural exchange.
Education Corridor
Since 1947, Australia has welcomed Indian students. Today, 20+ Australian universities partner with AUSMUN to open doors for India's brightest young leaders. Education continues to be a cornerstone of this bilateral success.
Australia Unlimited
AUSMUN proudly promotes Australia Unlimited — the Australian Government's initiative showcasing world-class opportunities in education, research, innovation, and business. The initiative celebrates talented Australians across business, science, design, arts, and humanitarian endeavours.
Three Seasons
of Excellence
Inaugural Edition
The historic inaugural edition of AUSMUN India was deliberately launched on August 15 — India's Independence Day — a date chosen to honour Australia's distinction as the first nation to hoist India's flag just seven hours after independence was declared in 1947. Held in the majestic Pink City of Jaipur, Season 1 set a remarkable benchmark for what an India-Australia bilateral MUN could be.
The opening ceremony was graced by celebrated global diplomat Mr. Siddharth Rajhans and Mr. Andy Evans, whose insights on bilateral relations and global diplomacy inspired hundreds of young delegates. With 700+ registrations and over 400 delegates, teachers, and dignitaries in attendance, the conference was covered by the Times of India — a testament to its national significance.
AUSMUN 2024 ran 8 committees simultaneously, making it one of the largest bilateral MUN conferences ever held in Rajasthan. The event featured an unprecedented University Fair showcasing 20+ Australian universities, with 14+ university representatives present in person to interact with delegates and their families.
The best delegates across committees were awarded a fully funded educational trip to Australia — a first-of-its-kind prize in the Indian MUN circuit. The conference drew participation from schools and colleges across multiple states, truly making it a national-level event in its very first year.
AUSMUN × JPGS
Season 2 was a monumental leap forward. In a landmark collaboration with Jayshree Periwal Global School (JPGS), AUSMUN India 2025 shattered all previous records, achieving over 800 registrations and welcoming 450 delegates from 41 schools across India — making it one of the largest bilateral MUN conferences the country has ever seen.
The event featured 9 committees running simultaneously across JPGS's world-class facilities, with high-calibre debates on issues ranging from climate change and human rights to Indian parliamentary procedure and international cricket governance. The conference hosted a massive University Expo showcasing 20+ Australian universities, with representatives present to counsel delegates on admissions, scholarships, and career pathways.
Distinguished dignitaries elevated the occasion: Dr. Monica Kennedy, Mr. Vik Singh, and Ms. Rongyu Li brought global perspectives to the opening ceremony. The Times of India served as official media partner, amplifying the conference's reach across the nation.
Beyond the committee rooms, Season 2 introduced two signature competitions: the AU-INspiring Art Competition, inviting students to visually express the possibilities of India-Australia collaboration, and Quiz Australia, an insightful knowledge contest on Australian history, geography, and culture. A vibrant DJ Night and social events rounded off each evening, making the conference a true cultural festival.
